CompTIA A+ Certification
The CompTIA A+ Certification is a non-vendor, non-product specific program, developed by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), it certifies the competency of entry-level technicians in the computer industry.
Industry Recognized Credential
Completion of CompTIA A+ certification affirms the competency of entry-level technicians in the computer industry. The program is supported by computer hardware and software vendors like General Electric, Digital Equipment, Microsoft, Toshiba, Packard Bell, and IBM.
CompTIA A+ Certification is designed to do the following: open doors to the Information Technology Profession; provide you with an industry recognized, valued credential; confirm that you have the ability to get the job done right; arm you with the knowledge, technical ability and customer service skills that are necessary to be a successful computer service technician.
Target Audience
All interested in starting a career in information technology, computer service technicians and helpdesk staff.
Job Responsibilities
Trouble-shoot computer hardware and software problems, configure computer systems for peak performance, build computers, installing and upgrading operating systems and software.
Prerequisites
The prerequisites are not strictly defined by CompTIA or NSCC, but at least intermediate knowledge of Computer Hardware, Microsoft DOS, Windows xx and Basic Electrical Theory are recommended.
Training Format
We will provide you with a CompTIA A+ Courseware Kit including CompTIA A+ Exam Assessment and Preparation software giving you the study tools you need to pass the test. At NSCC's Institute for Corporate Training and Technology, you will receive quality training from certified professionals in state-of-the art classrooms. Students will receive 35 hours of hands-on hardware training and 35 hours of software training with various operating systems.
The two-part test covers a broad range of hardware and software technologies:
CompTIA A+ Core Hardware Exam #220-201 (formerly A+ Core) - measures essential competencies for an entry-level PC hardware service technician with six months of on-the-job experience. The examinee must demonstrate basic knowledge of installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting, and repairing microcomputer systems.
CompTIA A+ Operating System Technologies Exam #220-202 (formerly DOS/Windows Service Technician) - measures essential operating system competencies for an entry-level microcomputer service technician with six months of on-the-job experience. The examinee must demonstrate basic knowledge of Command Line Prompt, Windows 9x and Windows 2000 for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing microcomputer systems.
