phlebotomy/ekg tech grads 2024

Tons of smiles and a tremendous sense of pride among the participants and their families were in abundance at the Phlebotomy/EKG Technician Program Completion Ceremony and Celebration held at North Shore Community College’s (NSCC) Danvers Campus on October 15, 2024.

A total of 29 enrollees completed the program with all 29 students taking the Condensed Curriculum International (CCI) National Phlebotomy exam and passing. Students are currently also sitting for the National EKG exam and working on testing with many of the students setting up externships through CCI.

NSCC’s Corporate and Professional Educational Division (CPED) ran two cohorts of the Phlebotomy/EKG Technician Program at NSCC’s Lynn Campus and at the Anchor Point/Harborlight site in Beverly.  Funding was provided by Education and Training Funds from the Massachusetts Association of Community Colleges (MACC) and TRAIN dollars from the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education (DHE).  Our educational partner, CCI, provided instructors for the classes and worked hand-in-hand with students.  Special grant-funding gave students the opportunity to work with coach Maria Decker, who ensured class completion and helped support additional testing and externships.

“You’ve taken a meaningful step forward in your careers,” said NSCC President William Heineman as he addressed the graduates.  “In a healthcare landscape where skilled professionals are more essential than ever, your decision to pursue phlebotomy is not only a personal accomplishment but also a vital contribution to our community and labor force here in Massachusetts.”

The Phlebotomy/EKG Technician Program Completion Ceremony and Celebration concluded with a reception for graduates and their guests and graduates being given a tour of NSCC’s Henderson-Bertolon Healthcare Simulation Center of Excellence led by Dean of Health Professions, Lori Vinci.
