Free short-term training for high-demand careers in the North Shore
Employers on the North Shore are actively looking to hire trained employees. Students who complete these courses will have greater access to these job opportunities. Explore free short-term career training in healthcare, information technology, and manufacturing. All classes are free thanks to grant funds provided by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the GE Foundation. Enrollment process and requirements may vary by course.

Professional Role
An IT Technical Support Specialist may assist colleagues and customers with computer hardware and software issues. Some of the challenges for the Specialist to address may range from security compliance considerations to upgrading, repairing, optimizing performance, and performing preventative maintenance.

You must take the ACCUPLACER or submit a transcript from college-level courses completed for review of your scores/grades.

Professional Role
EKG techs are team members in various healthcare facilities and medical settings whose primary role is to prepare, conduct, monitor, and analyze a patient’s heart and cardiovascular system through an EKG test.
Phlebotomists take blood samples to learn about a particular patient or to use in research. Phlebotomists also collect blood from donors for those in need of blood transfusions. Phlebotomists must also learn how to draw blood from capillaries.

This course prepares students for the national certification exams for EKG and Phlebotomy
technicians
