Registration for non-credit courses is ongoing throughout each semester. To see all current non-credit course offerings, visit https://northshore.coursestorm.com/ or NSCC Course Search, select Non-Credit Course, and Apply Filter.
Register early! Classes fill quickly and many have limited seating.

Students register and pay directly with the online vendor. You do not need to send in a registration form or payment to North Shore Community College.

Yes. See below the Health Care Program requirements:

Accuplacer Placement Exam: It is strongly recommended that students take the exam for advising purposes. For testing information or to schedule exam please visit the Testing Center Web Page.

A CORI check is required.

Proof of immunizations and a negative TB test is required for some healthcare classes at the start of class. Proof of a COVID-19 vaccine and a booster may be required for some health courses. A drug screening may be required for some health classes.
We have a waitlist for many of our popular classes. To be added to the waitlist you
must give us your registration information along with payment information. (We will
not cash checks or process credit cards unless you are registered). You must call
the Professional Education office at 978-236-1200 for information about Waitlist Registration.
Waitlist Registration is determined on a first-come first-serve basis.
You may be able to receive college credit for prior and experiential learning that takes place via volunteering, employment, seminars, workshops, completion of non-credit courses, military training, or cultural experiences. Each student is assigned a Student ID Number to keep course records at NSCC. If you have changed your name or address, your birthdate is the easiest way for our systems to identify you without asking for your Social Security Number.
You can purchase the required textbooks at the Lynn Campus Bookstore (books for classes in LYNN only), and the Danvers Campus Bookstore (books for classes in DANVERS only). Please visit the Campus Store for more information.
Certification Training at NSCC is industry-recognized, short-term, one-course training that can help you advance your career.
A Certificate Program at NSCC can help you get job-ready for an in-demand career in less than a year. To earn a certificate of completion you must pass several required courses in the certificate program.

A class is more comprehensive, approximately 15 hours total, and runs for 6-7 weeks. A workshop is 6 hours and is only one day.
Accuplacer is a tool that helps colleges assess student readiness for introductory courses and make reliable placement decisions.
Some certificate courses recommend Accuplacer testing IF you do not have prior college-level reading or math credits. If you already have a degree, you do not have to take them.

For classes scheduled longer than three weeks, full refunds will be given if you withdraw before the second class meeting.
For one-day workshops, we need a three-day notice for a full refund.
For courses that cost over $350 or with limited seating, you are required to withdraw one week in advance for a full refund so we may offer the seat to another student.
For online courses offered in collaboration with ed2go/Cengage, ProTrain, or Condensed Curriculum, please call the Professional Education office at 978-236-1200 or email professional@northshore.edu.
It takes approximately 2 business weeks (10 working days) from when you withdraw from a course to receive a refund. If you paid for your course with a credit card ONLINE, you will receive a refund to your credit card. Any refund questions should be directed to Student Financial Services.
As a condition of employment, all candidates for positions within our department are required, at a minimum, to commit to or provide the following:

Completed, signed, and dated employment application.

Completion of various employment forms legally required for employment including a Form I - 9 with required current forms of identification.

When job search alone does not lead to employment, MassHire can use funds available through grants or the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) to assist eligible job seekers in obtaining needed skills or credentials to return to work.
